Introduction of Division of Health Sciences and Nursing,
Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo
Our Division of Health Sciences and Nursing is committed to developing and implementing scientific approaches that help people lead happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. We promote innovative research and educate the next generation of accomplished academicians and professionals.
Despite tremendous advancements, Japan continues to face issues such as an aging population, a low birth rate, and gender disparity. Due to illness, aging, and disability, socioeconomic factors lead to health inequities, restrict social involvement, and place many people’s quality of life at risk. In order to implement effective solutions, our interdisciplinary approach identifies and addresses variables at the individual, family, community, regional, and national levels. By reevaluating the definition of care and fostering a sense of mutual support among diverse communities, we hope to build a society that helps people attain their full potential. To encourage interdisciplinary research and collaborate with citizens and stakeholders to systematize knowledge that addresses unresolved social challenges, specialists from several academic domains are needed.
Our research and educational endeavors aim to maintain, promote, recover, and improve the quality of life for all people. The relationship between the fields of health science and nursing science offers plenty of potential for collaboration among many academic sectors. Please check the websites of each department for more details. If you are interested in applying for one of our master’s and doctoral programs, please contact us, as we welcome applications from highly motivated students.
